Tullahoma volleyball and girls’ soccer are back

GRAY DEYOSports Writer

With the school year back in session, fall sports are starting up. Two of those sports are high school girls’ soccer and volleyball. Here is a look at their schedules for this season and a little bit of a recap of their seasons from last year.

Tullahoma Volleyball

The Tullahoma volleyball team had a decent season last year, finishing with a record of 11-15. They began to find their footing mid-way through the season, winning four games in a row after a losing streak of four games. Overall, though, they just could not take that extra step of becoming an elite team and making a push for a playoff run or anything of that sort.

The Lady Wildcats going into this season will be without a couple of their main contributors from last season, Isabella Lidstrom and Olivia Spencer. Lidstrom, in her time as a Wildcat, had a superb career, setting school records left and right. She holds the record for most kills in a game (27), most in a year (312), and most all-time (833) at Tullahoma. Spencer also led some stat categories in her time wearing red, white, and black. Over her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, she led Tullahoma with the most service aces (240). Spencer over that span also led the team for most digs (1,080).

Both committed to play college volleyball—Spencer committed to play at Virginia Wesleyan and Lidstrom committed to play at Johnson University.

This year’s version of the Lady Wildcats volleyball team will have to find a way to replace that production in order to be successful. A few players to look out for that could do that are sophomore Emily Bell, sophomore Adalyn Nelson, junior Gabbi Gardner, and senior Gabriella DaCosta.

 Girls Soccer

Over the past three seasons, the Tullahoma girls’ soccer team has proven to be a legit program. In each of those seasons, they have walked away with 10 or more wins, including their latest season in 2024, where they finished with a record of 11-5-1. Tullahoma competed in the district final last year and ended up losing that championship bout for the second season in a row. The Lady Wildcats’ season as a whole concluded in the regional semi-final, where they lost to Livingston Academy 3-2 in overtime.

Going into the 2025 season, Tullahoma is looking to get over the hump and bring back a district title, and they have all the tools to do it.  Junior Brindley Duncan and seniors Lexi Chamblee and McLayne Bobo, who all played massive roles in the success of last year’s squad, will be back and looking to do the same again. Bobo was the Lady Wildcat’s leading scorer, Duncan was the assist leader, and Chamblee made the All-District team.
