A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Health Department facility was held Aug. 8 at the Joint Industrial Park.

Chairman of the Coffee County Capital Outlay Committee Terry Hershman commended the builders for being ahead of schedule for the construction.

Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner Dr. John Dunn said the facility will help improve public health.

“The local health departments are so critical in that outreach for our citizens,” Dunn said. “This is exciting to see a building up and know that the services that are so critical, women’s health, children’s health vaccines, all the things that is going to be going on right here in the state of the are facility.”

The site plan for the 11,211 square-foot facility on the New Tullahoma Highway was designed by St. John Engineering.
