The Living is Easy
T
Dear Reader’s, How is y’all? I am in my element-SUMMER! This column is based off of the Ella Fitzgerald song, Summertime.
If you’ve ever heard Ella Fitzgerald croon a song, you’ll think you are in a transcendent state, and probably you are. She had such soul when she sang her jazz.
So, I recommend that you pare a summer day with her song, Summertime;
Summertime and the livin’ is easy
Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high
Yo’ daddy’s rich and yo’mama’s good-lookin’So hush little baby, don’t you cry
Is you livin’ easy this summer? Make sure it is. Take some time to ride through the country with the windows down and watch the cotton grow. Go fishin’ and watch the fish jumpin’ I did at a friend’s lake house last month. It was so peaceful and refreshing.
Take some time to set on the front porch sippin’ sweet tea and listening to the birds sing. Take some time to see how high the corn is growin’. Just flat take some time! We just have to! It’s how we meditate and take some joy from life.
Y’all get your summertime on! And be sure you listen to Miss Ella croon her song. Until next time.
