Piñatas’ win streak has no end in sight

GRAY DEYOSports Writer

The Piñatas added another win to their resume as another slate of games in the Tullahoma Adult baseball league took place this past week. Here are the results from the games played on Aug. 14 and on Aug. 18.

Piñatas vs Athletics

This game only lasted three innings before it ended because of the mercy rule, with the Piñatas securing a 15-0 win over the Athletics.

The Pinatas’ biggest scoring inning of the three was in the top of the second frame, where they put up eight runs. There were two RBI hits in the inning made by Vann Boyce and AJ Parker. Boyce hit a three-run double, and Parker hit a one-run single. Both players in the contest tallied four RBIs, the most out of anyone in the game. Other notable offensive performers were Brady Nugent and Nolan Sanders. Nugent had two hits, one walk, and an RBI. Sanders went 1-3 with three RBIs.

The Piñatas after the game are now 8-3 on the season, while the Athletics extend their losing streak to four games and are now 2-8.

Shebvul Shovels vs Royals

The Shovels grabbed their third win in a row, beating the Royals 6-1.

The Royals scored the opening run of the game, but their offensive powers dried out after that. The Shovels’ pitching was just too much to overcome, which has been the case over their latest streak of wins. In their last three games, they have just allowed one run.

In this contest, Jacob Hawkins was on the mound and allowed just one hit over the twelve outs. He also had six strikeouts. Logan Green pitched the final inning of the contest and did not allow a hit, and struck out two of the three batters he faced.

On offense, Blake Bone led the Shovels with two hits. Jacob Price and Austin Johnson led the team in RBIs with one apiece.

After the conclusion of the game, the Shovels are now 7-3 and the Royals are now 4-6.

Stache vs Athletics

The Stache took control of this game early, with one of the largest single-inning outputs by any team in the 2025 season. They walked away with an 18-7 win.

The Athletics opened up the scoring in the top of the first with a two-run inning. This was solid, but no one could prepare them for the explosion of offense coming from their opponent in the bottom of the second. In that frame, the Stache put up 15 runs. They had seven walks, six hits, and there was multiple hit by pitches and errors. This big inning from the Stache ended the game early due to the mercy rule. The big offensive contributors for the Stache in this game were Logan Underhill, Lee Carden, Noah Fann, and Dylan Ward.

Underhill, Fann, and Carden all had two hits, and Ward led the game with four RBIs.

The Stache with this win on Aug. 18 moved ahead of the Pinatas for the first seed in the league standings with a 9-3 record. The Athletics, with the loss, dropped to 2-9.

Reds vs Shebvul Shovels

The Shovels secured their fourth win in a row with another strong defensive performance, beating the Reds 3-1.

The Shovels’ offense came from the bottom of the first and third innings. In the first, they scored one run in the third, they scored two. These runs came from a bases-loaded walk and a two-RBI triple from Hawkins.

On the mound for the Shovels in this contest were Hawkins, Brody Thomas, and Green. Hawkins pitched four of the six innings and allowed two hits, one run, and had three strikeouts. Thomas and Green combined for one allowed hit over two frames and four strikeouts.

After the game, the Shovels are now 8-3, and the Reds fall to 7-4.
