A Coffee County Sheriff deputy has been fired from his position following his arrest in Murfreesboro, which included charges of public intoxication, resist stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search, and two counts of assault on a first responder.
In a statement from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, officials confirmed that Deputy Miles White was arrested on Saturday, July 12, by the Murfreesboro Police Department.
“Deputy White was off duty at the time of the incident,” the statement read. “Upon notification of the arrest, information was gathered, and Deputy White was terminated from his employment with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.”
Officials said that the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office holds all of its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards.
“Law enforcement officers must be accountable for their actions, on and off duty. We are committed to transparency and will cooperate fully with the investigation being conducted by the appropriate authorities in Rutherford County.”
The statement added that Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin emphasized that incidents like this, while unfortunate, must be addressed directly and responsibly.
“Public trust is earned through accountability,” Partin said. “We will not tolerate behavior that undermines the integrity of this office or the community we serve.”
