Man busted for credit card fraud, faces deportation by ICE

The investigation that led to the arrest began when Decherd Police Department received a call to the Franklin Farmers’ Cooperative, located at 2229 Decherd Blvd., in reference to potential credit card fraud and theft of property.

Upon arrival, initial officers were directed by an employee of the potential suspect inside of the store. The suspect was located and later identified as Yudier Sardinas Vizcaino from Miami, Florida, born in Cuba. While attempting to put Mr. Vizcaino into cuffs for an investigatory detention, officers attempted to take his cell phone, and Mr. Vizcaino became resistant. During a search of his 2021 F-350, 40 gift cards were located inside of a work glove on the driver side of the vehicle. Approximately seven of those cards, small pieces of paper, were attached to the back of the cards with what appears to be PIN numbers and zip codes. (Mr. Vizcaino stated that he located the glove on the side of the road, which contained the multiple gift cards).

Additionally, during a continued search of the vehicle, diesel receipts were located from the Co-op diesel pump inside of the door of Mr. Vizcaino’s truck for the purchases, which also indicated Mr. Vizcaino had previously visited the Co-op on the previous day as well. Along with the receipts, a potential victim’s name was located on a receipt. The victim was determined to be from Greenbrier, Tennessee.  The victim was later contacted, and it was confirmed that the victim was not in the area when the transaction occurred. The victim also stated that he had received a fraud alert from his bank in reference to the out-of-town purchase. Other potential victims were identified in the Murfreesboro area, but no contact has been made at this time. Further into the investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Vizcaino pumped over 100 gallons of diesel fuel into additional tanks in the truck’s rear compartment, as seen in image #3. During questioning with an interpreter, Mr. Vizcaino mentioned being in the area of LaVergne, for work purposes. It was later determined by a Social Security card that he was here on a temporary work visa.

Mr. Vizcaino will be pending felony indictments and a hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The Decherd Police Department would also like to thank the employees of the Co-op for their continued vigilance and quick response that led to the apprehension of Mr. Vizcanio.
