Alontae Taylor’s ‘Chosen One’ camp returns to Manchester

New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor will return to Manchester on Saturday, June 21 to host his second annual ‘Chosen One Youth Football Camp’ at Carden-Jarrell Field from 9 a.m-12 p.m.

Free of charge, the camp will be open for the first 350 kids aged 6-18 who register. Registration for the event can be found at usafootball.com by clicking the “Find an Event” tab and entering the 37355 zip code for Manchester.

Alontae Taylor played all four years of his high school career at Coffee County, setting a school record in quarterback rushing yards with 1,676 in his freshman year of 2014. That mark is still the eighth-best quarterback rushing season in TSSAA history.

After high school, Taylor moved to the cornerback position, played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2018-2021 and was selected 49th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Taylor has started in 37 of his 47 career NFL games.

Wanting to give back to his hometown community of Manchester, Taylor began the ‘Chosen One’ camp last summer.

“Growing up in a small town like Manchester, it didn’t seem like we had any big-time college players or NFL players that would come back here and talk,” Taylor said after last year’s camp. “I knew that once God blessed me enough to make it to that level, I wanted to come back and give kids motivation and let them know that you can make it, no matter where you come from.”
