Girl Scouts retire flags in ceremony

Girl Scout Troop 2163 honored veterans recently by placing 319+ flags on veteran’s graves at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma. This is a service that GS Troop 2163 has been a part of for 14 years. They also present wreaths at this same cemetery for Wreaths Across America during the Holiday Season.

On Memorial Day Girl Scout Troop 2163 retired 260 American Flags in a ceremony.  This is an ongoing civic duty that GS Troop 2163 performs.  If you need to have a flag retired you can leave it at any door of South Jackson Performing Arts Center, 404 South Jackson Street or First Church of the Nazarene, 201 South Polk Street.  You may leave them at these locations year-round and they will be retired at the next ceremony. They will be holding another Retirement Ceremony around Flag Day which is June 14.

Troop members:  Kaidence Wood, Allie Hice, Kindal Gilliam, Charlotte Petersen, Ella Hice, Peyton Fritz, Abigail Smith. Leader – Greg Gressel.
