Delivery

Did you know that God can use many situations, people and places to teach? I think we have all become overwhelmed with life that we forget that God speaks to us right in the middle of our crazy. I’m always the first to let others know that i did not attend the school of theology, I am no theologian nor do I know every aspect of the Bible, but I share my experiences as a way to help others along their journey. As I share these articles I am often sharing an encounter or lesson I have learned throughout the week. Last week was no exception and God really spoke to me through one of our guests at The Silos.

If you aren’t familiar with The Silos, they are our short term rental properties Dennis and I felt God asked us to build in 2023. They are unique, however; God has proven that they are very special to many people across the world. There have been many times, because we are human, that we have questioned their purpose and the enemy has even whispered defeat more times than we like to admit. A few months ago Dennis and I were presented an opportunity at The Silos that we felt would help make others aware of these special places. We anticipated the arrival of this opportunity, put in the work and made sure no detail was overlooked. When the day arrived we were disappointed that this opportunity seemed to have passed us by. We went to bed upset and I will be the first to say that I woke up the next morning even angry. If you have ever owned your own business, you know just how important new opportunities and open doors (entrepreneurs we pray daily for them) can be.

As I was getting ready that next morning, I was talking with God about why HE didn’t deliver. Why did this opportunity arise yet you let it fall through our fingertips? I loaded up the car to take the kids to school and realized that God had in fact delivered on His promise as I passed The Silos. I felt an instant punch to the gut as I looked over at that foggy field knowing that I had not only been angry at God, but that my heart was just as foggy and had lost sight of where my faith lies. I immediately began asking for forgiveness even as my children witnessed and was quick to teach them a lesson while in the moment of that regret. The day ensued and God continued speaking to me in His own subtle way about not allowing the doubts to consume my purpose.

If God has placed something on your heart, don’t question how it will be delivered, trust the Deliverer. Sometimes our hopes, dreams and visions for the future are not wrapped in fancy paper and pretty bows – sometimes they come in a plain old brown cardboard box. Please don’t lose sight that no matter how they come, the package still has YOUR name on it. Later that evening I went to “Dolly” to do my usual cleaning and stumbled upon a few items our guests had left. I was completely humbled and once again in a place of embarrassment when I saw the verse they left on the kitchen table – “If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour.” John 12:26. This verse was most certainly no coincidence as God was simply reminding me that my only job is to serve Him and all other things will follow. It wasn’t my job to make sure He gave me what I thought I needed, but trusting that He would deliver my every need according to His will. Maybe there have been times in your life that you doubted God’s timing or that He even heard your plea. I would remind you today that your package is safe with Him and will be laid upon your heart exactly as He intends. He won’t just throw it on the front stoop, it’s too precious, but will personally see that the recipient knows the Sender.

There was nothing amazing in the natural that came about from this opportunity I thought we needed so badly, but what I did learn in the spiritual far outweighed any blessing earth side. It was a reminder that our hope does not lie in circumstances, but through our faithful Father and the obedience to keep pushing forward. Although undeserving of such a gift, the best part was unwrapping the layers God left that rainy Monday morning and knowing through each one that we were never forgotten. In that moment, our purpose became greater than our desires. The guests we serve and the way God speaks to them through these old rusty grain bins was always the reason – not us. You are not forgotten, friend. I pray you live this week with expectancy because there is a wonderful package with your name inscribed and God will deliver as He promised even when we can’t check the progress. May you learn from my fault – we don’t have to track God, He’s already there!

“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” Psalm 9:10.

Blessings,

Kayla
