Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin announced that a small riot had occurred at Coffee County Jail.

In a preliminary report issued on April 14, Partin said that the riot consisted of seven inmates in B section of the jail. These inmates were incarcerated on charges from felony theft to murder.

“We had to use many tools in the toolbox, including the fire department,” Partin said, referring to the efforts to maintain order in the cellblock. 

Coffee County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the cause of the riot and more information and the names of the inmates involved is forthcoming.

No one was injured in the incident, Partin said.
