Just a month after getting mid-state honors, two Tullahoma grapplers are now being heralded as the best wrestlers in the state in their weight classes.

Senior Wildcat Robert (Bob) Tatum and sophomore Corbin Avans were both named All-State by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. The honor comes after Tatum took fourth place in his weight division at state, during which he got his 100th career pin. Meanwhile Avans took second in the state for the second year in the row.

Avans shares the 157 pound weight class honors with Wyatt Howard of Pigeon Forge, Sr.; Lane Cope of Samuel Everett, Jr. and James Tuepker of Millington Central, Sr.

Tatum shares the 285 pound weight class honors with Jonathan Davis of Soddy Daisy, Sr.; Brayden Vance of David Crockett, Sr.; and Jalen Wright of Gibbs, Sr.

Elsewhere in Coffee County, Ellysia Jennings, a Lady Raider sophomore, was named All-State for the girls’ 185 pound class.
