Nearly 150 volunteers attend Duck River Spring Clean-Up

The Duck River Watershed Society held its fourth annual Spring Clean-up event on Saturday, March 1, and saw a large turnout of volunteers ready to clean up.
Nearly 150 dedicated volunteers gathered at the Normandy Dam area, rolling up their sleeves to remove over three thousand pounds of trash, including abandoned tires and miscellaneous auto parts, from the lakeside.
A huge thank you went out to every volunteer who showed up and to our incredible sponsors and partners: the Bonnaroo Works Fund, TVA, LKQ Corporation, the Tennessee Duck River Agency, Coffee County Rural Solid Waste, The Webb School, Common John Brewing Company, Local Scouting, and Coffee County Middle School. Their support made this event possible!
Over the past four years, DRWS volunteers have removed thousands of pounds of debris from the watershed, recycling hundreds of abandoned tires and various discarded items—including a bed box spring, car parts, and even kitchenware. These efforts are a vital part of DRWS’s mission to promote sustainability and enhance the overall health of the Duck River watershed.
DRWS asks those who want to help make an even bigger impact to mark their calendars as it will hold its fifth Spring Clean-Up on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
