Juanita Burnett Rowe Obituary
Juanita Burnett Rowe, a cherished mother, loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, at the age of 75. Surrounded by her loving family, she answered God’s call after a life well-lived.
Mother Rowe was born on Nov. 4, 1949, in Belvidere, to the late Jimmie and Mildred Burnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Rowe, and her precious granddaughter, Jazmin Bankston.
A native of Franklin County, she graduated from Townsend and Huntland High School, where she was a proud member of the girls’ basketball team. On April 4, 1970, she married the love of her life, Dewey Rowe, and together they raised three children: Aretha, Cary, and Tonia.
Mother Rowe was a devoted member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in Asia for more than 50 years. She held various roles within the church, including serving as Church Mother, Sunday School Secretary, and as a faithful choir member. Her unwavering faith and love for God were evident in everything she did.
For 18 years, she worked as a seamstress at Lanier Clothing until her well-earned retirement. Beyond her professional work, Mother Rowe was known for her caring heart, her generosity as a caretaker, and her love of planting flowers, which brought her much joy, especially in the spring. She was also a talented cook, known for her delicious vegetables, which she lovingly prepared for family gatherings.
Her family remembers her as someone who always offered a listening ear, sound advice, and endless love. She never met a stranger and was always ready to help others. Family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in cooking meals for them, especially during Thanksgiving, and in spending time with them, watching football and basketball games.
Mother Rowe leaves behind a loving legacy, including her two daughters, Tonia (Steve) Berry and Aretha (Chris) Harris; her son, Cary (Jennifer) Rowe; grandchildren, Montrell, Shakera, Donavon, Jr., Cary, Jr., Adam, Jacob, Camden, Jesse, and Breanna; and two great-grandchildren, Amir’ and Freya. She also leaves her beloved sisters, Sarah (late Sylvester) James, Fredia (late Charles) Hendon, and Sandie (Raymond) Dixon; three sisters-in-law- Margaret Battles, Annie Faye Childress, and Beverly Burnett; two brothers-in-law, James Rowe and Richard (Alice) Rowe; special friends, Freddie Simmons, Ronnie Hill, and Theresa Greer; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Juanita will forever be remembered with love and affection by all who knew her, fondly called “Mom,” “Sweetie,” “Silver Star,” and “E’da.”
