With Memorial Day coming in May, the Shady Grove Garden Club is making preparations for the observance of the annual day America pays tribute to their fallen heroes.
The Memorial Day observance will be held at 11 a.m. on May 23 at History Park in downtown Tullahoma.
“All are invited and encouraged to attend as we remember and honor the service of our veterans, past and present,” said Shady Grove Garden Club Veteran Memorial Chairperson Sandy Sebren.
In preparation for the annual event, the club is planning to update its veteran walk at History Park. Engraved pavers for veterans can be purchased by filling out an application form at Tullahoma City Hall, Citizens Tri-County Bank or Traders Bank. The forms must be filled out and returned by April 10 to insure the paver will be placed in time for the Memorial Day activities.
“Your paver will be placed in the veteran walk and dedicated at the Memorial Day service,” Sebren said.
In addition to the services and dedication of the new pavers, three graduating seniors from the local schools will be recognized with each receiving a $2,000 Veteran Memorial Scholarship for their higher education goals. The scholarship funds are provided through the sale of pavers.
