As the weather begins to warm up in time for the spring season, people will begin to prepare their boats for excursions to either Normandy Lake or Tims Ford Lake. Fortunately for those who don’t have access to boats can now enjoy time at the lake with Lake Life Excursion.

 According to co-founder Cody Garcia, Lake Life Excursion is a rental business where customers can rent out boats, kayaks and canoes to enjoy what nature has to offer.

“Our main mission is just to get people off their phones, out of technology and to get them to nature,” Garcia said. “We love to get people on the water and see everything that nature has to provide, relax and unplug from their busy lives.”

Garcia said the inspiration for the business was when he and his wife, Terina, found themselves busy with their work and had recently moved to the Tims Ford Lake area after spending years going to Normandy Lake.

“We lived in Tullahoma for about four years before we moved, and we just found out that being on the water, listening to the water and watching the nature, the birds, the fish and trees and stuff like that relaxed us a lot,” he said.

Garcia added after talking to his brother, they and his wife decided together it was good idea to get people on the water as much as possible to relax and destress.

Garcia said the rental boats will be in the water during the peak of the season.

“Right now the lakes are both kind of drained, but when they rise up, the boats will stay in the lake, but the kayaks and canoes will be for both lakes,” Garcia said.

Right now, Lake Life Excursions will deliver boats to customers at the boat ramps on Normandy and to private docks as well for people staying at AirBnBs and vacation rentals. Garcia said once Lake Life Excursions establish a physical location customers will be able to come by to pick up the kayaks and canoes. He added that he will provide training when he delivers the boats and/or customers pick up their rentals.

While Lake Life Excursions has only been in business for a short period of time, Garcia said he is looking forward to operating a business on his own while getting away from the typical 9 to 5.

“Our main mission is to unplug and to destress, to help other people do that as well as ourselves,” Garcia said. “So we definitely want to get out, and we want to see how it feels.”

Lake Life Excursions is a veteran-owned business, as Garcia served in the 82^nd Airborne Division while his brother currently serves in the same division.

“I’ve been out for 10 years, but it’s cool that my little brother is in the same unit that I was in when I was in the army,” Garcia said.

Lake Life Excursion recently announced a retail location at 2338 N. Jackson St., Suite 2, in Normandy. A soft opening for the store will take place March 24.

“We picked this location to service both Tims Ford Lake and Normandy Lake,” Garcia said in a statement. “We still deliver bulk reservations of four or more kayaks and canoes to AirBnBs, VRBOs, private docks, boat ramps, and marinas. For smaller orders of kayaks and canoes you can pick up at our retail store location. We will also deliver kayaks and canoes as an add-on to your boat rental on Tims Ford Lake.”
