While the wind was blowing through Tullahoma, the atmosphere inside Tullahoma High School was bustling with students and parents taking in the arts as part of Tullahoma City School’s Fine Arts Night.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, students and their families made their way from one side of the Tullahoma High School gymnasium to the other viewing the various pieces of art the students from each of the seven schools in the district: East Lincoln Elementary, Robert E. Lee Elementary, Bel-Aire Elementary, Jack T. Farrar Elementary, East Middle School (EMS), West Middle School (WMS) and Tullahoma High School (THS).

TCS Fine Arts Coordinator Sarah McVey praised this year’s Fine Arts Night as a success, thanks to the turnout of the families coming out to support their children.

“TCS Fine Arts Night was a tremendous success this year,” McVey said. “We had an amazing turnout, with families filling the gymnasium and auditorium to celebrate the creativity and talent of our students.

She added that it was great to see the young artists, musicians, and performers shine, and said the energy in the building was palpable.

“Events like this highlight the importance of the arts in our schools, and we’re so grateful for the support of our community,” McVey said.

As students and their friends and families made their way around the gymnasium, they saw what each schools’ students did for the event, with pieces ranging from drawings, papier-mâché, ceramics, paintings and so on from the students and their art clubs.

Another part of the evening were the various performances from members of the choir and bands in the seven schools, as well as individual performances. The performances were conducted throughout the night and were split into both the gymnasium and the THS auditorium.

Performances in the gymnasium included the Jack T. Farrar Folk Dancers, THS Percussion Ensemble, Bel-Aire Elementary’s 1st Grade Movers and Shakers, THS Jazz Band, THS Clarinet Choir, Robert E. Lee Elementary’s Recorder Ensemble and the THS Brass Choir. Overlapping with the gymnasium were the auditorium performances which featured the THS Choir & Friends, the East Lincoln Elementary/Robert E. Lee Elementary/EMS 6th grade choirs, EMS 6th grade choir, WMS 6th grade choir, THS Theater performing “My Big Fat Greek Divorce,” and the WMS 7th/8th grade choir.
