The clock is ticking for those interested in registering for the annual Miss Tullahoma pageant as the deadline has been extended to Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The original deadline was Thursday, Feb. 20, yet due to the past week’s weather the deadline was extended, according to South Jackson Performing Arts Center (SPJAC).
“Due to weather that has kept Tullahoma City Schools closed, we are going to extend your opportunity to sign up for and get your registrations turned into the school office or SJPAC until next Wednesday, Feb 26,” SJPAC officials said.
The Miss Tullahoma Scholarship Pageant and South Jackson Performing Arts Center announced this year’s plans for the pageant back in January, which included a new category that will allow all school age girls to participate. Girls interested must be enrolled in the Tullahoma City Schools system or homeschooled living with the Tullahoma city limits. Contestants also must pay a non-refundable $20 entry fee.
Those wanting to register can go here and follow the links to the respective category they want to sign up for.
This year’s four categories include: Miss Tullahoma–grades 9 to 12; Junior Miss Tullahoma–grades 6 to 8; Young Miss Tullahoma–grades 3 to 5; and Little Miss Tullahoma–grades kindergarten to second.
This year’s Miss Tullahoma Pageant will take place at South Jackson Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 8. Young Miss Tullahoma will start the day’s pageants at 11 a.m., Junior Miss Tullahoma will follow at 2 p.m., Little Miss Tullahoma at 4:30 p.m. and Miss Tullahoma will take place at 6 p.m. Contestants are asked to arrive no earlier than 45 minutes before their event.
Following the registration deadline, there will be two pageant practice days at South Jackson Performing Arts Center. The first pageant practice will be Wednesday, March 5 for Junior Miss Tullahoma from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Miss Tullahoma at 6:30 p.m. The other pageant practice will take place on the following day, March 6, for Little Miss Tullahoma from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Young Miss Tullahoma from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Contestants are asked to bring the shoes they plan to wear for the pageant so they can practice using them.
Pageant officials added contestants are allowed only one female in the dressing area with them, and males will not be permitted in the dressing areas. Also, all Little and Young Miss contestants must have a chaperone with them backstage at all times.
Tickets for the Miss Tullahoma Pageant will be available for purchase two weeks prior to the event at South Jackson’s website. Tickets for each pageant category will be sold separately.
