Tullahoma Baseball and Boys’ soccer are right around the corner

GRAY DEYOSports Writer

With 2025 now upon us, the calendar year for a new season of spring sports for Tullahoma High School will soon begin. Baseball and soccer are two of these spring sports, and they are both slated for the month of March.

Baseball is coming off of a state championship, with the title being added to Tullahoma’s trophy case for the first time since 1990. It was the Wildcats’ first appearance in the championship since 2022 and then nine years previous to that in 2013, with 2013-2014 Gatorade Player of the Year–Justus Sheffield. The Wildcats baseball team has become a staple of the Tullahoma sports scene, as they have continued to add trophies and awards to their resume.

Coming off of a year of winning it all and finishing with a record of 36-6 record and also finishing first in their district with a 9-1 record, there is no doubt the task will be tall to repeat a similar tale with the loss of seven seniors–Derek Nolasco, Avery Smith, Bobby Nichols, Colton Emory, Cade Fanning, Evan Tomlin, and Jayon Morris.

It will be a new-look squad for the year 2025, but the same could be said about the 2013 Tullahoma baseball championship runner-up team. Just like this year, they lost seven seniors the year before their season. At the end of the day, anything is possible.

Tullahoma’s boys’ soccer will start around the same time frame as boys’ baseball, as their season takes off on March 7 against The Webb School. They are coming off of a solid season finishing with a .500 win and loss record at 6-6-3. They were able to make it to the District semi-finals, where they then lost to Franklin County 4-0.

There is a lot to be happy with coming out of last year, but the team coming into this year will have their goals set much higher with a large field of familiar faces, as they only lost the likes of three seniors.

Two months feels awfully far away, but in what will feel like a blink, a 64-team bracket pool of college basketball teams will flash on the TV, signaling the Tullahoma boys’ soccer team and baseball team will be in the midst of both their seasons.
