Leroy Stevenson Obituary

Leroy Stevenson left this earth to spend eternity with Jesus on the afternoon of Jan. 9, 2025 after 80 years of establishing a legacy of kindness, gentleness, and service.

He travelled extensively throughout the United States. He successfully completed several careers in management and service including investing heavily in future generations of young people through the Stevenson’s in-home daycare, reading to children at Bel Aire Elementary where he was the Head Custodian, and faithful service at Highland Baptist Church. He will be sorely missed, but surely awaiting us with a warm and friendly greeting upon our arrival in glory.

Mr. Stevenson is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Stevenson; two sons, Thomas Stevenson (Jose Baron), and Dan Stevenson (Sherri Stevenson); granddaughter Ariana Stevenson; granddaughter, Allecia Shope (RJ Shope), great-grandchildren Jacen Shope, Kaleb Shope, Zayden Shope, and Zoey Shope; granddaughter Amalya Hartley (Ricky Hartley), great-grandchildren, Kyler Hartley and Carsyn Hartley; grandson, Aaron Stevenson (Caitlyn Stevenson); and grandson, Ardin Stevenson.

Visitation for Mr. Stevenson will be held on Friday, Jan. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Norman, and Lee’s sons Thomas and Dan officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Kilgore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
