Boys and Girls THS bowling teams advance to Team Regional Tournament

Following Christina Petty’s qualifying for the Individual State Bowling Tournament with her second-place finish at regionals, the THS bowling team’s success has continued to roll on.

On Dec.12 the boys and girls teams both competed at the District Team Tournaments. The boys’ team won the district title and the girls finished runner-up. Both teams with their performances garnered a spot in the next round at Team Regionals, which is one step away from the Team State Tournament.

“Our practices were focused, and we just have had an exceptional team this year,” head coach of Tullahoma Derek Swinger said regarding what he believes is one thing that has led to his team’s success for this season.

“I want to shout out Eic Eakin of Tullahoma Lanes. Him letting us practice at his facility has allowed us to put down the patterns we need, because we bowl on different patterns than your regular house shot.”

Swinger describes his team as being close and it has helped with their ascendance this year, and although it has been fun for the coach to witness it has been stressful.

Unfortunately for him, the stress will only grow from here, as he watches both his teams compete at the Team Regional Tournament on Jan.9 and also watches Petty when she competes at the Individual State Tournament on Jan.22.
