Lady Wildcats drop second straight against Rockvale

The Lady Wildcats’ shooting woes in Coffee County last week carried over to their matchup against Rockvale, losing 50-41.
Following three single-digit scoring quarters against the Lady Red Raiders, the Lady Wildcats outputted two against Rockvale—scoring four points in the second quarter and eight in the third. This has not been the norm for the Lady Wildcats this year. They are an extremely efficient offense and score the ball well—-averaging 61.5 points per contest in their first four games of the season.
“It starts with us valuing the basketball and having better spacing versus pressure. Then we have to see the floor and make better decisions which lead to more efficient shots,” head coach of Tullahoma Lady Wildcats Chad Hibdon said regarding his team’s production on offense the last two games.
Rockvale ran a press all night that forced tough looks from the field and forced turnovers that they then generated into points. RHS outscored Tullahoma in the second and third quarters 27-12, leaving a fourth-quarter comeback for the Lady Wildcats out of the cards despite great effort.
Tullahoma’s struggles have come with a hint of good with Wildcat guard, Aubrey North starting to string good games together—scoring 13 against Rockvale and 11 in their matchup against Shelbyville on Dec.3.
“She is finally healthy enough to play,” said coach Hibdon.
“She is still trying to work back to 100%, but she is doing a great job of battling through that process. This is what we expect from Aubrey, she was our most efficient scorer last season. She doesn’t take bad shots or get rushed into forcing shots which creates the efficiency we emphasize.”
The two-game stretch of iffy offensive production from the Lady Wildcats will likely be a blip on the radar for this team. They are undoubtedly talented with both upperclassmen and promising underclassmen. They play with undying effort night in and night out, and when their shots fall paired with that, they are one tough team to beat.
They will look to get back to their winning ways following their second loss in a row, on Dec.14 when they take on Lincoln County.
The result were not available by the press time.
