TCS received exciting news recently, as TE Connectivity has provided the district with a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) grant worth $9,761.

Tullahoma High School was the recipient of $5,685.86 from the grant. According to grant writer Jessie Kinsey, the funds will be utilized to purchase five 3D printers, accessories and filament for the printers. Three 3D printers will be used in the coding classroom, allowing students to code and operate the printers. The STEM classroom will utilize the additional two printers to create, design and print objects in 3D.

The Robert E. Lee Elementary School First-Grade team received $4,075 from the grant. These teachers will use these funds to purchase STEM Bins aimed at introducing first-grade students to STEM concepts. The primary goals of the STEM Bins are to introduce students to STEM careers and opportunities, encourage hands-on learning and create a storage system for materials.

This is the fourth grant TE Connectivity has provided Tullahoma City Schools to aid the district in its goal of improving STEM-based and CTE learning opportunities.

“TCS is thankful for TE Connectivity and the commitment and support that they provide our teachers, students and schools,” said TCS Director of Schools Dr. Catherine Stephens. “These funds go a long way to ensure that our teachers and classrooms have what they need to provide unique and meaningful learning opportunities for our students. After reading the grant proposals, I am excited about the new resources that will be available in our classrooms soon.”
