Rock around the ‘Trees of Christmas’ at South Jackson

KYLE MURPHYStaff Writer

It’s that time of year again where Tullahoma residents can go rock around several Christmas trees at South Jackson’s fifth annual “Trees of Christmas” event.

This year’s “Trees of Christmas” will be taking place starting this Wednesday, Dec. 4, through Sunday, Dec. 8. Tree viewing times will be:  Dec. 4 and 5 from 6 – 9 p.m.; Dec. 6 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. and during the Christmas parade after party starting at 8 p.m.; Dec. 7 from noon to 8 p.m. and Dec. 8 from 2 – 6 p.m.

Admission for this year’s “Trees of Christmas” will be $5 a ticket or $20 for a household ticket. This year’s nonprofit organization to receive a portion of the proceeds will be Horse Play Inc.

The forest of uniquely-decorated trees will line the halls and exhibit areas of South Jackson Performing Arts Center, offering attendees and their families the opportunity to stroll at their leisure while enjoying beautiful Christmas chamber music, hot chocolate, coffees, ciders and baked goods, all included with the price of admission.

This year’s presenting sponsor is Trader’s Bank, while this year’s Elf Sponsor is Fuel So Good, who will be providing the goodies to attendees.

This year’s event director is Darlene Gilliam, according to SJPAC Chairman Greg Gressel.

Gressel added this year, children can either bring their letters to Santa to Trees of Christmas to be dropped off, or write their letter to Santa at a station set up at the event. He added those who bring and send their letters at South Jackson will receive a return letter from Santa.

During the event, attendees will get a chance to vote for their favorite trees in several categories, including “People’s Choice”; “Best Theme”; “Most Creative”; “Best Christmas Spirit”; “Best Tree Topper/Finial d’arbre”; and “SDYI Craftsmanship”.
