West boys win again

The West Middle School boys’ basketball team won their fourth game in a row Monday night, and it seems they are beginning to click on all cylinders as a group as they beat the Warren County Pioneers 51-26.

During the Wildcats’ four-game win streak, they have scored at least 50 points in every game, averaging 55 points a game. And it is not just their offense that is clicking, their defense is playing exceptionally well too. They are holding opponents to a blunt 21.5 points a game during the streak, making their average margin of victory during their four-game run 33.5 points a game.

This team is versatile and can adapt if something is not going their way. In their game against East, they only made two threes so they turned their focus on pushing the ball up in transition and had an aggressive mindset in getting to the paint in general. Against Warren County on Monday, they rained in six threes, expanding their game away from just a paint-based offense.

Cooper Knight was the main threat from the long line splashing in five of the Bobcats’ six threes, with three of them coming in the second quarter. Knight would finish as the game-high scorer with 17.

To put it simply when your team can win in a multitude of ways, you will win more games, and the Bobcats have done that so far this season, by honing in a record of 7-1.
