Tullahoma renews Microsoft license

The Tullahoma Board of Mayor and Aldermen signed off on a $58,277.48 bill earlier this month to renew the city’s Microsoft licenses, ensuring city departments can keep running without any wrench in the machinery. The funding covers two years—2024 and 2025—after an oversight last year left the city unpaid for its 2024 licenses.
Adam Booker, the city’s IT director, spotted the problem back in March. A vendor mix-up meant no invoice landed on Tullahoma’s desk for the prior year’s subscription. Booker didn’t just fix the billing issue; he took the opportunity to rethink how many licenses the city actually needed. By trimming excess, the bill for 2025 came out $12,479.48 lighter than for ‘24.
The unanimous vote ties up the loose ends of last year’s budgeting error, while putting the city in a better position for the future. Booker’s review and adjustments mean Tullahoma isn’t paying for licenses it doesn’t use—a rare case of a problem turning into a win.
