Amateur radio exam offered Saturday

An amateur radio license examination session will be offered by the Middle Tennessee Amateur Radio Society this Saturday, Nov. 9, starting at 9 a.m., at the Coffee County Emergency Operations Center, 300 Hillsboro Boulevard, in Manchester.  The doors will open for registration at 8:30 a.m.

Examinations for all three license classes, Technician, General, and Extra, will be offered.  The exam fee is $15.00.  Those taking an exam must bring a photo identification and must have receive a Federal Communications Commission Registration Number (FRN) prior to the exam day.  An FRN may be obtained by registering in the FCC CORES system online at https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do.

Amateur radio operators proctoring the exam session are certified by the FCC and the American Radio Relay League, the National Association for Amateur Radio.  Current licensees must bring a copy of their current license.  Prospective licensees who successfully complete the entry level Technician class exam may opt to take the next higher license class exam at no additional cost.  For additional information on the examination session, contact Richard Claing, W1RGC, 860.205.5906.  

MTARS will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room behind the First Presbyterian Church, 204 East Grundy Street, in Tullahoma.
