Gary Storey Obituary

Gary Storey, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family. 

Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel with full military honors at Willow Mount Cemetery.

Gary was born Nov. 25, 1952 in San Antonio, TX, to the late Oliver Morgan and Patricia Louise Koenig Storey. He graduated Tullahoma High School in 1970 and also attended Motlow College in Tullahoma. He joined the Navy in 1971 and served until 1975, serving as a Fire Control Technician. During this time, he also attended school in Chicago. He served on the USS Canisteo (A0-99). He retired after 40 years from Arnold Air Force Base as an Instrumentation Technician. He loved God and his family, especially his children. He and his wife Nancy, who were happily married for 29 years, loved riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles together and driving around deer watching. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville. The thing he enjoyed most was playing and listening to music. He loved his DJ equipment and DJed for friends’ and family’s functions. Another favorite pastime was golfing with his brothers-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orman and Ramer Rye Storey, and Clarence Osment and Virginia Koenig, a brother, Eugene Storey, and a grandchild, Dylan Storey.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Marshall Storey, children, Shane (Kathy) Storey, Laura (Brent) Liston, Chrystal (Chris) Holden, Robert (Melody) Nelson, Valerie (Jamie) Prince, and Amy Storey; grandchildren, Abigail Storey, Jacob Prince, and Lily Storey, and a sister Connie (Steve) Woosley).

Feldhaus Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
