Lady Wildcats’ season concluded

The Tullahoma High School girls’ soccer team hit the road to take on Livingston Academy in the region semifinals and lost 3-2 in overtime.

The Lady ‘Cats scored a goal in each half, but were not able to score in overtime. Brindley Duncan scored both of the team’s goals. One was assisted by Lauren Nichols and the other one was assisted by Leah Fogarty.

Tullahoma finishes the season with an 11-5-1 overall record and a 5-2 district split. They were 5-1 at home and 6-4-1 on the road. The Lady Wildcats scored 74 goals and allowed just 21 on the season. That is an average of over four goals a game scored and just over one goal allowed per contest. The ‘Cats shutout their opponents eight times, while only being shutout twice.

The longest streak of the season was the five game winning streak from Sept. 9 through Sept. 25. The total score of those five games were 26-2. The season started with Tullahoma winning four of their first five matches. All four wins were shutouts; 3-0, 6-0, 9-0 and 8-0. After the 8-0 win at Coffee County, the second loss came against Franklin County 3-1. The loss sparked the five game winning streak, over four district opponents and Riverdale. Lipscomb Academy ending the streak by beating the Lady ‘Cats 5-0. They followed it up with a 9-0 win over FCA on senior night before going to Harpeth Hall and tying to end the regular season.

The Lady Wildcats hosted Central Magnet in the district semifinals and won 4-2, going back to Franklin County for the district championship for the second straight season. For the second consecutive season, Tullahoma fell in the championship match and finished runners-up in Class 2A District 8. As the runners-up, the ‘Cats had to travel for their region match. They lost a very competitive game in overtime 3-2, ending the season.

McLayne Bobo led the team in goals scored for the second straight year with 20 after breaking the record with 39 last season. She was injured for part of this year, which limited how many goals she could boot in. Duncan was behind her in goals with 16, but she led the team in points with 53. She had a team leading 21 assists, no one else had more than four. Faith Vincent had 8 goals, Catelynn Ballard had 7, Nichols had 6, Kenzie Farrell and Finley DaCosta had 5 each, Jossalyn Garcia and Harper McShea had 3, Macy Marcel had 2, Gracie Martin and Zoie Roberts had one.

Behind Duncan in assists was Ballard with four, then Fogarty, Garcia, Alexis Chamblee and Bobo had three. Marcel, McShea and Nichols had two, while Martin, F. Vincent, Addison Vincent Abbie Grace Cox, Marlee Chessor and Beautifull Perkins had one.

Claire Fogarty was in goal for Tullahoma most games and recorded 39 saves on the season. Anzley Holloway was the other goalkeeper for the Lady Wildcats and she has 8 saves on the season.

Tullahoma finished the season ranked 10 in the 2A Class according to MaxPreps.
