Threat against East Middle School investigated

The Tullahoma Police Department have concluded its investigation into a possible threat made towards East Middle School was not credible Thursday morning.

“This morning the Tullahoma Police Department was made aware of a possible threat made on social media towards East Middle School,” TPD officials said in a statement. “After investigating the possible threat, it was determined the threat was not towards any school in the Tullahoma School System.”

Per officials, the threat in question was made to another school in different county, and all information was passed to the law enforcement agency in the county the threat was made towards.

In a statement to The News, Tullahoma City Schools Communications Specialist Zach Birdsong said after EMS was alerted to the potential threat, law enforcement was immediately contacted and after a thoroughly investigated was conducted, the threat was deemed not credible.

“We want to thank our local law enforcement for acting swiftly and ensuring the safety of our students and staff members,” he said.

The police department issued another statement regarding a separate incident that took place at EMS that involved the arrest of a juvenile.

“At 11:10 a.m. today multiple Tullahoma officers responded to East Middle School to assist with an unruly juvenile,” the statement read. “The juvenile was taken into custody and escorted from the building.”

The department reassured residents that the incident was unrelated to the previous incident threats, and that there was no threat involving TCS.
