Murfreesboro man dead of apparent drowning

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responded to a report of a drowning on Normandy Lake at approximately 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.

According to the TWRA preliminary investigation, William Henry, 74, of Murfreesboro was participating in a fishing tournament on Normandy Lake and did not return to the weigh-in.

Several other anglers went to search the lake and found Henry unresponsive in the water near his vessel.  A call to authorities was made and the Coffee County first responders pronounced the victim deceased. Henry was wearing a lifejacket.

This is the 19th boating related fatality on Tennessee waters in 2024. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
