Greenway Bridge Ramp set for repairs
BRADY FLANIGANStaff Writer
At the recent Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the board unanimously approved a request from the Parks and Recreation Department to move forward with the Cascade Park Greenway Bridge Ramp Replacement project. Two bids were accepted for the project: one from Gaudet Concrete Construction for $13,660 to build the concrete ramps, and another from Superior Machine and Tool for $7,100 to install metal handrails.
An insurance payment of $3,217.18, received for damage to the bridge, will be applied to the total project cost, leaving a total balance of $17,542.82. The remaining funds will come from the Parks and Recreation Reserve Account, ensuring any necessary repairs will be fully covered. The approval paves the way for important infrastructure improvements at Cascade Park.
The first motion to approve came from Alderman Glick, who interjected by saying “that bridge was one of the first things when I started working for the city of Tullahoma in 1985 that we built and installed those wooden ramps. So they’ve served us well, and I think those wooden ramps that we’re replacing probably cost less than the $3,000 dollars we’re getting from the insurance at the time. It’s a good project and these concrete ramps will last, and won’t have any problems.” With the necessary funds in place and the unanimous approval of the board, the project is set to begin as soon as possible.
