Moore County Mayor Sloan Stewart recently introduced the Metro County Council the county’s new attorney William “Bill” Rieder.

Stewart announced Rieder as the new attorney during the council’s July 15 meeting, where he informed them that the previous attorney, John Bobo, had resigned in June.

“Mr. John T. Bobo announced his resignation as county attorney June 30, and I asked him for a little guidance on his replacement.”

Stewart said Bobo sent Rieder as his recommendation, who serves as an attorney for Hull, Ray, Rieder and Lane, P.C. in Tullahoma. Rieder has been practicing law for over 45 years where he has experienced in civil litigation, which includes representation of both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury and property damage cases, premises liability, property dispute, employment law, insurance and probate litigation, as well as representation of county and municipal governmental entities, business entity formations and probate and estate administration.

“He’s been a county attorney, worked with some utility departments, so he’s familiar with government,” Stewart said.

He added they had a meeting the prior week to get Rieder up to speed with Moore County.

“(Rieder) and John T. have been friends and associates for years, so John T. isn’t dropping him and leaving him they are a phone call away,” Stewart said.

Rieder addressed the council and said he was honored to represent Moore County and he was looking forward to working with them.
