George Wesley Crowell Obituary

George Wesley Crowell, a loving brother, uncle and friend to many departed this life on Aug. 7, 2024 at the age of 89 in his home in Estill Springs.

George was born on October 31 1934 in Tullahoma to Margie and Lawrence Crowell. He is survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as one sister Mary Frances Rodriguez.  Along with his parents, George was greeted in heaven by three sisters; Betty Blevins, Jean Armstrong and Dorothy Thompson as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. George was a long-time employee of Poly Hi Manufacturing in Ft Wayne Indiana, where he worked for many years after serving in the US Navy from 1952 until 1960. He was recognized for his strong work ethic and for working 17 straight years without missing a day!  In his early years, George was able to enjoy travel during his time of military service and in later years enjoyed singing karaoke with his family and the company of his friends and family and two very beloved dogs, Misty and Dolly.

Visitation will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Sunday August 11 from noon until 2 p.m. with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. Tim McGehee will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of George to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
