Smithson announces write-in campaign for mayor
Local resident Karl Smithson has launched his second mayoral campaign; however, unlike four years ago, this time voters will have to write-in his name when they cast their vote for Tullahoma mayor.
“I am the spiritual solution,” Smithson said in announcing his write-in bid for mayor. “I think we need to include spiritual values again in leadership.”
Vowing to put other people first if elected, Smithson said he also has his eye on the governor’s seat in 2026 but would like to make a difference in Tullahoma and then all of Tennessee. Smithson noted that it has become a “corrupt society” and that he wants to lead a revolution to give the government back to the people.
“Their crazy,” Smithson said of the current board of mayor and aldermen. “I want to bring justice for all and represent the poor people.”
Smithson said he would like to have prayer in school and a chapel in schools as part of restoring spiritual values.
Since he is not on the mayoral ballot, Smithson is asking voters to take time to write his name in when they go to the polls.
