Cammack announces aldermanic bid

“My name is Franklin Cammack, and I am running for one of the three Alderman seats in Tullahoma. I have lived my entire life in Coffee County. I grew up on a large farm in Hillsboro, graduating from Coffee County High School in 2002. I attended Motlow and then MTSU, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education. I started my first teaching job in the Fall of 2006 at Grundy County High School, while living in Manchester. I moved to Tullahoma in the Fall of 2016 but remained teaching in Grundy until 2018. That fall, I started my teaching position at West Middle School and have been there ever since. I never planned to teach Middle School. Just because it’s not in your master plan doesn’t mean that you can’t be successful at. In my six years at West, I have been nominated Tullahoma’s Finest Teacher three times, winning it in 2022. I was named one of Tullahoma Chamber of Commerce’s 40 Under 40 Young Professionals in 2023 and named TCS’s Middle School Teacher of the year for this past school year. Running for a government office was also never part of my master plan, but I hope to excel at that as well. My campaign is focused on three things: Education, Responsible Growth and Supporting Small Businesses.

Being a teacher, education will always be at the forefront of my mind. I want to make sure that our school system has what it needs to be able to provide the best possible education for your children. Our buildings are aging and some need upgrades or remodeling. I hope to be a bridge between BOMA and TCS to help provide open communication.

Responsible growth should be a priority for any Tullahoma official. To date, Tullahoma has approved close to 1,500 new housing units to be built in the area. Some of these locations are not fully equipped to accommodate the number of people that would be moving into that area. I want to make sure that the infrastructure is in place and ready to go before we start adding even more housing in other areas of Tullahoma.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of a community. They are the ones that sponsor your kid’s soccer teams, who feed our school athletes, and donate to our nonprofit organizations. I am also for fair competition. Creating ordinances that make it harder for small businesses to do business in Tullahoma is bad for the community as a whole.

If asked to describe myself, I would say Teacher, husband, fur-parent, gamer, trivia host, emcee, sports fan, and even Swiftie, but I would never say politician. I’m just like you, an average ordinary guy. I’ve only made one promise while campaigning: “I promise not to fight, name call, or be disrespectful while in this position. I will bring respect to this office and use common sense when making decisions.”  I’m doing this for the betterment of the community.  Thank you for your time, and when you go to the polls on August 1, if you wouldn’t mind clicking my name, I’d be extremely grateful.”
