Bobby Glenn Burton Obituary
Bobby Glenn Burton, 81, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1943, in Moore County to the late Homer “Tub” and Mary Burton. For over 30 years, he worked at Joe Martin Stables in Shelbyville as Breeding Stallion Manager. He always enjoyed being in the barns with the walking horses and taking care of them. In his younger years, he owned and registered coon dogs and loved to compete in hunts or just for fun. His favorite dog was “Old Trixie.” Bobby was an avid gardener, he enjoyed working in the fields, sometimes with mules and sometimes a tiller. But he worked every day tending to his crops as long as he was able. He was a hard worker and wanted to be in the garden as much as he could. Bobby liked to fish, he would catch and release…didn’t matter what size he caught, he just wanted to be outside and enjoy nature. Kelly Walters was Bobby’s friend, companion, and caretaker for over fifteen years. They enjoyed each other’s company and just riding around together. Other than fishing, dogs, and horses, Bobby loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dennis Burton, Robert Burton, and Rachel Prince.
Bobby is survived by his children, whom he was so proud of, Gloria (Mike) Damron, and Ricky (Kim) Burton.; grandkids whom he adored, Richard and James Burton, Billy Glen and Joseph Batten, along with several great-grandkids; siblings, Smiley Burton, Johnny Burton, Mary Bunn, Joyce Partin, and Edith (Wayne) Harris; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and family members.
