The music festival fever has caught up to Huntsville, Ala. as Blink-182 and Gwen Stefani have been announced as the headliners for the inaugural South Star Music Festival this September.

The new music festival was announced by the Huntsville Music Office and on social media last Tuesday, April 16, with the promise of a lineup to “celebrate nostalgic pop & rock anthems.” The inaugural South Star Music Festival is set to take place at John Hunt Park, located at 2411 9th Avenue SW in Huntsville, from Saturday, Sept. 28, to Sunday, Sept. 29.

The lineup for the two-day music festival was announced Tuesday, April 23 and will feature over 20 acts. Saturday will see performances from Shinedown, Jane’s Addiction, Jimmy Eat World, TLC, Juvenile & the 400 Degreez Band, Gin Blossoms, Candlebox, Dexter and the Moonrocks and Winona Fighter, followed by the night’s headliner Gwen Stefani. Stefani recently reunited with her bandmates of No Doubt to perform at Coachella this month.

Wrapping up South Star on Sunday will be Beck, Sublime, Goo Goo Dolls, Ludacris, Big Boi, Pete Yorn, Vanessa Carlton, Bully, Billy Allen + The Pollies, with Blink-182 set to close out the festival. Blink-182 reunited with longtime guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge in 2023 for a surprise performance at that year’s Coachella and released the album “One More Time…” later in the year. Sublime reunited in late 2023 with Jakob Nowell, the son of Bradley Nowell, taking his father’s place as lead vocals and guitar, and performed at Coachella 2024.

In addition, attendees who want to enjoy the festival but don’t want to miss any football games can stop by at the South Star Sports Hall to catch all the big games from the SEC and NFL taking place during the weekend.

C3 Productions, the company in charge of South Star, has produced other major music festivals including Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.
