Downtown Lions contribute to United Way
Ashley Abraham, Executive Director of the United Way in this area, was the guest speaker at the Tullahoma Downtown Lions Club (TDLC) earlier this month.
In a bid to strengthen community ties and foster collaboration, the TDLC has pledged to support our local United Way. During the meeting, Ashley discussed some of the activities aimed to explore avenues for joint initiatives and discuss pressing issues facing the community. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to meet with the Lions Club members, acknowledging their longstanding commitment to community service and welfare. She emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing social challenges and improving the lives of our residents. During the productive exchange, she demonstrated a couple 21st Century technologies. Dialing 211 from any phone will get you in contact with a United Way representative. This is a bilingual call, so you can hear the options in either English or Spanish. Additionally, if you text “BENEFITS” to 211211, a questionnaire can be filled out and point you in the right direction for your particular situation.
The Tullahoma Downtown Lions Club, known for its philanthropic endeavors, welcomed the prospect of partnering with the United Way to amplify their impact and reach.
“We believe that by joining forces with the United Way, we can make an even greater “difference in our community,” remarked Mr. “Paco” Prince, President of the TDLC, Together, we can leverage our resources and expertise to address key issues affecting our neighbors.”
In addition to formal partnerships, both organizations expressed their commitment to fostering a culture of volunteerism and civic engagement among community members. By harnessing the collective power of volunteers, they aim to implement sustainable solutions and create lasting positive change. As the meeting drew to a close, Ms. Abraham extended an invitation for ongoing collaboration and mutual support between the United Way and TDLC. She stressed the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and working together towards shared goals.
The visit concluded on a high note, with TDLC presenting a $1,500 check to the United Way. As we embark on another year of collaboration, residents can look forward to enhanced services and initiatives that reflect the collective spirit of unity and compassion.
