Nancy Shasteen Guenther Obituary

In Loving Memory of Nancy Shasteen Guenther.

Nancy was born on Aug. 3, 1941, in Manchester. Nancy grew up in Tullahoma, but lived most of her adult life in DeLand, Fl. Nancy passed away on Jan. 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. A graduate of Tullahoma High School and the Methodist Hospital Nursing School in Memphis, Nancy dedicated her life to nursing and helping others. Born to Dick and Kate Shasteen, Nancy is survived by her brother, Stephen (Martha) Shasteen, and her sister, Julia (Steve) Mayes, along with her husband, Albert Guenther, and her daughters, Aimee (Tracy) Dickerhoff and Lisa (Drew) Watkins. She adored her eight-grandchildren, Landen, Noah, Jacob, Micah and Keegan Dickerhoff, Mary Katherine, Robert and was preceded in death by Kirby Watkins. She loved her nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, Carissa Shasteen, Eve Armstrong, Richard Shasteen, Joel Shasteen, Trent Logan, Alex Mayes and preceded in death by Ryan Logan. Professionally, Nancy served as a Registered Nurse for the Department of Health, impacting countless families. Committed to her community, she was Past-President of the Deland Museum of Art Guild, served on The Neighborhood Center’s Board, and was a member of First Church in DeLand. Nancy’s warm smile, generosity, and boundless compassion touched everyone she met. A devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, her legacy of love will endure.

As we remember Nancy Shasteen Guenther—a life well-lived and a spirit deeply loved. She will be missed, but her warmth and grace will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Please join us in remembrance on Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. for a graveside service at the Cowan Montgomery Cemetery, 622 Cumberland St E, Cowan TN.
