Alex Bernhard Sharpton Obituary
Alex Bernhard Sharpton, 63, of Tigard, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 30, 2024. He was born on July 14, 1960, in Manchester to the late Arthur and Martha (Gaisser) Sharpton.
Alex was a southern gentleman who loved life to the fullest. He had a deep appreciation for the Oregon Coast and the mountains. One of his favorite activities was taking his beloved dog, Trixie, for walks on the beach and watching the Portland Trail Blazer basketball games with her sitting on his lap. Alex also had a green thumb and eagerly anticipated planting his annual garden, especially his beloved beefsteak tomatoes. He found joy in watching his grandchildren play volleyball, football, and track.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Terri, and daughters, Alexis, Ashley (and her husband Luke), and Amanda (and her husband Enrique). He is also survived by his brother, Eric, sister, Lisa, step-son, and daughter-in-law, Martine, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Parker, Elias, and Ava. In addition, he leaves behind his brother-in-law Randy and wife Lisa, father-in-law Rudy, mother-in-law Joyce, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and countless wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Sharpton, mother, Martha Sharpton, and niece, Megan Sharpton.
Alex received his education from Bel-Aire Elementary in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and graduated from Tullahoma High School. He furthered his studies at Fresno State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.
For 20 years, Alex dedicated himself to Community Medical Centers in Fresno, California, where he started as a radiology technician and later became the Radiology Manager. It was during his time at Community Medical Centers that he met his beloved wife, Terri, and they married on July 7, 2001. In 2007, they relocated to Tigard, Oregon, and Alex joined OHSU for a year before finding his place at Kaiser Permanente Clackamas and Westside Medical Center. He thoroughly enjoyed his work at Kaiser and cherished the relationships he built with his colleagues.
Alex was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the King City emergency personnel for their exceptional response during their time of need. They would also like to express a special thank you to niece Bianca and her husband Jason for their unwavering support.
In memory of Alex Sharpton, the family kindly requests planting a tree through the USDA Forest Service’s tree donation program. Contributions can be made at https://plantatree.fs.usda.gov/tree-donation.
