Coffee County Humane Society had a productive year in 2023, helping provide spay/neuter services for 627 dogs and cats, emergency vet visits for 312 pets, pet food help for 195 families, and 212 adoptions of cats and dogs.
“This was possible through countless hours of volunteer work from our members, local veterinary assistance, and the wonderful support through donations from the community and from our grantors,” a spokesperson for the Society noted. “We also appreciate our good working relationships with Coffee County and Manchester City Animal Control and Tullahoma Animal Shelter, as well as other rescue groups in our area.”
Grantors include The Community Foundation of Middle TN through the Lillian Ashley Fund which specifically helps Coffee County animals and children, Jack Daniel Distillery, United Way of Highway 55, TN Spay Coalition (Williamson County Humane Association), The Patterson-Troike Foundation of Texarkana, TX, Mutt Nation Foundation, TN Animal Friendly License Plate Grant, City of Tullahoma cat spay/neuter funding, and Coffee County Government cat spay/neuter funding. Our veterinarians providing special service to CCHS include All Creatures Veterinary Clinics, Animal Health Clinic, Cascade Veterinary Hospital, Coffee Veterinary Hospital, Hackett Animal Clinic, Lakeside Veterinary Hospital, and Pet Medical Center.
“Without their help, we could assist far fewer animals with needed care,” the Society added. “We are grateful to the Mars Petfood Company, Good Samaritans of Tullahoma, Randolph’s Electronics, Kepler Group Landscape Supply, and Coffee County Co-op for their help and cooperation with pet food distribution to needy animals in our county. This Christmas we were fortunate enough to receive donations through angel trees throughout the county and we give special thanks to Tractor Supply Manchester, Petsmart inTullahoma, and the Mercantile in Manchester for being hosts for our donation trees. The gifts left under these trees, will help our dogs and cats in foster care.”
The Humane Society is pleased to be an adoption partner with the Petsmart Foundation and adoptable cats and kittens may be seen at the in-store cat adoption room at the Tullahoma Petsmart during regular store hours.
“A special thank you to Common John Brewery and Tractor Supply for hosting adoption events for us periodically,” the Society noted. “Pre-adoption meetings may also be arranged with us through private message to our FB page, Coffee County Humane Society. This is also the best way to contact us with help for veterinary services. Our help is geared to families with incomes under $45,000 annually.”
CCHS welcomes more volunteers and members. We meet the last Tuesday of the month at the Coffee County Administrative Plaza community room and our next meeting is Tuesday Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. The public is invited.
