J.C. Painter Obituary

J.C. Painter, 96, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at his residence. 

A native of Moore County, he was born on October 21, 1927, to the late George and Emmalee (Burt) Painter.  Before his retirement, he worked as a logger, as well as for the Moore County Highway Department.  When at home, he enjoyed working in his yard and keeping it mowed.  In his spare time, you could find J.C. playing dominos or watching the Andy Griffith Show.  Those who knew him will recall his wonderful sense of humor and ability to make those around him smile.  A devoted Christian, he attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church when he was able.  When his health declined, J.C. watched church services on Sunday mornings on television.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Enzalee Painter; son, James Painter; and siblings, Junior Painter, Burford Painter, Ray Painter, May Harris, and Marry Painter. 

J.C. is survived by his loving children, Cathy (Anthony) Hatfield, Louise (Richard) Stiles, Jerry Painter, Micky Painter, J.C. Painter Jr, and Donnie (Brenda) Painter; grandchildren, Kevin, Dusty, Travis, Jason, Pam, Tammy, Diane, Jamie, Angie, and Mary Beth; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.  Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Lynchburg Cemetery.  Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 181 Majors Boulevard, Lynchburg, TN 37352, (931)759-4552, www.jenningsmoorecortner.com.
