Wildcats win third straight game

The Tullahoma High School basketball teams traveled to Lincoln County and the boys’ team used a 50-point second half to pick up their third straight win.   

The Lady Wildcats could not overcome the early deficit they faced and fell 65-47. They were led in scoring by McLayne Bobo with 13 points, including two made 3-pointers. Nyjah Gibbs scored 11, including 6 in the third quarter. The Lady Falcons were led by Abby Bryan with 22 points and five made 3-pointers.

Tullahoma was outscored 19-7 in the first quarter. Lily Melton scored 3 points from the free throw line. Bobo scored 3 points and Isabella Lidstrom hit a free throw. Lincoln County hit three 3-pointers in the quarter, Alyssa Petty scored 6 points to lead the team.

The Lady Wildcats more than doubled their point total with a 16 point second quarter. Aubrey North led the way with 5 points. Gibbs scored her first 4 points of the game. Bobo hit a shot from downtown. Lidstrom and Melton both added 2 points. The Lady Falcons still won the quarter, scoring 21 points while making five 3-pointers. Bryan hit three of them to lead the team with 9 points in the second. Tullahoma trailed 40-23 at halftime.

The Lady ‘Cats continued strong play on offense scoring 15 points in the third quarter. Gibbs hit three shots for 6 points. Bobo added 5 points, hitting her second 3 of the game. Lidstrom scored another 4 points going perfect from the foul line. Lincoln County still added to their lead racking up 20 points in the third.  Bryan scored 9 more points in the third to lead her team. The Lady Falcons led 60-38 going into the fourth.

Tullahoma won the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. Emilee Shuran led the Wildcats with 4 points. Lidstrom and Bob both added 2 points. Gibbs hit a free throw. Lincoln County scored just 5 points in the fourth, getting 3 from Maggie Franklin.

The Lady ‘Cats wet 14-for-25 from the foul line on the night. They hit 12 more free throws than the Lady Falcons, but were minus 30 points from the 3-point line.

The Wildcats won 80-61 by outscoring the Falcons 50-31 in the second half. They were led by Keegan Taylor with 27 points. Xavier Farrell scored 24 and Khani Johnson added 12. The Falcons were led by Reese Smith with 22 points.

Tullahoma scored 10 points in the first quarter. Taylor led the way with 5 points and his first made 3 of the night. Johnson hit a 3-pointer and Austin Tinnon scored 2 points. Lincoln County scored 11 points with Maddox Franklin and Jade Hase both hitting a 3 to lead the team.

The ‘Cats hit their rhythm in the second scoring 20 points. Taylor led the team with 10 points. He hit two more 3-pointers. Farrell started his scoring night with 5 points, going 3 for 3 from the foul line. DeAndre Jenkins scored 3 points and Will Hyden added 2. The Falcons scored 19, led by Smith with 12 points in the quarter. The game was tied 30-30 at halftime.

Tullahoma took over in the third quarter, outscoring Lincoln County 21-11. Farrell led the team with 13 points. He drained three 3-pointers in the third. Jaiden Sanchez scored 5 points, including a made 3. Johnson hit a 3 in the quarter too. Hase led the Falcons with 5 points in the third. The ‘Cats took a 51-41 lead into the fourth.

The Wildcats were led by Taylor with 12 points in the last quarter. He went 5 for 5 from the foul line. Farrell and Johnson both scored 6 points. Johnson got 2 points on a ferocious breakaway dunk. The slam was ranked second best dunk in Tennessee Friday night by Hudl. Sanchez added 3 points and Bryson Steverson hit two free throws. Lincoln County scored 20 points in the quarter, led by Smith with 7.

Tullahoma went 17-for-20 from the foul line and sunk 11 3-pointers. Lincoln County made 19 free throws but only made 8 3-pointers.

Both of Tullahoma’s basketball teams go to Rockvale tonight with the girls’ game starting at 6 p.m. They will host Coffee County Fri, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.
