Rachael Mitchell wins Region individual tournament

Tullahoma High School Bowling teams competed in the TSSAA Region 3 individual tournament for Division 1 at Spare Time in Hixon last week.   

Rachael Mitchell qualified to move to the girls’ individual State Championship by finishing first. She had a total score of 1056, 51 pins ahead of second place. Mitchell’s highest single game score was 192. Christina Petty was the next Lady Wildcat in ninth with a total score of 894. She was just 42 pins away from qualifying for State. Petty’s single game best score was 160. Emilee Hewitt was next with a score of 856, with a best score of 189. Haylei Byrne finished with a total score of 799 and a best game score of 156.

For the boys’ team Jordyn Pilkington finished at 15 with a total score of 1122. His best single game score was 214. Chase Dodson was the next ‘Cat at 20 with a score of 1074. Dodson’s best single game score was 225. Bryson McKelvie was right behind him with a score of 1057. His best single game score was 234. Landyn Rodgers finished with a total score of 962. His highest single game score was 196. Aiden Floyd was the next Wildcat with a total score of 899 and single game best of 181.

Before the Region tournament, the team participated in the Livin’ On A Spare tournament in Smyrna. The Tullahoma boys’ baker team won highest baker game score with a 223 and got to bring home a medal each. The boys’ team came in fifth overall of the tournament. The girls’ team finished in fourth.

The last regular match before the tournaments was against Santa Fe. The Lady Wildcats won 21-6 while the Wildcats fell in a very competitive 14-13 match.

The Boys will be back in action on Nov. 27 at Tullahoma Lanes against Community at 3:30 p.m. Both teams will be taking on Lawrence County on Nov. 30 at Tullahoma Lanes starting at 3:30 p.m.
