Thomas P. Hinners Obiturary

Thomas P. Hinners passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at his residence in Tullahoma.

He was born in Connersville, Ind., in 1947 to Clara Caripolti Hinners Gianinni and Irvin Hinners.  Stepfather Patsy Gianinni and grew up in Newtonsville and Milford OH. He lived in Albany, NY and relocated to Tullahoma.  Mr. Hinners was a US Navy Veteran and served in Vietnam. He was also an Albany N.Y. police officer for 21 years and upon retirement worked at the Port of Albany before moving to Tennessee in 2011.

Tom was an avid camper who loved Sept camping in Raquette Lake of the magnificent Adirondack Park, N.Y. He also loved to fly fish and work on small projects in his wood shop. Tom loved and cherished our deceased dogs Champ and Molly, and cats Casey and Zoe, and our current fur babies Max the lab, and Hunter and Willie our cats.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 27 years to Catherine Helmer Hinners, Brother Richard (Connie) Hinners Cincinnati, OH, and the Late Chuck (Tina) Hinners of Virginia Beach, Va. And cousin MaryHelen (Dick) Hankins of Connorsville, Ind.

Brother in law to Carol (John) Casey of Menifee Calif., Keith (Tracy) Helmer of Roanoke, Va, and Kevin (Adrianne) Helmer of Alpharetta, Ga.

Children Maria Hinners of Pa., Michelle Hinners of Va, Joseph Hinners of Albany N.Y., and Nancy Hinners Newsome of Abingdon, Md. Predeceased by son Jake Hinners.

 Grandfather to Zackhary Comisac, Dr.Michael Comisac, and Nick Comisac, Joseph and Jake Hinners, and Evan and Anna Newsome.

 Uncle to John D. Casey, Paul (Rachel) Casey, Melanie Casey all of California. India Helmer Tanzy, Paxton Helmer, Max Helmer and Maverick Helmer, Patrick (PJ) Hinners, Gregg Hinners both of Va., Joseph Hinners, Jimmy Hinners, Jeff Hinners, Katie Hinners Martin, Kelly Hinners Hines all of Ohio

Great Uncle to Emily and Olivia Casey of California.

We are forever blessed by good friends Mark and Rhoda Bruno of SC, Geraldine Knapp and John Hormovitz of New York, Karen and David Malin of Spring Hill, Tenn., Joanne And Dr. Daniel Bregman of Nashville, Trudy and Lewis Gutherie of Tullahoma, Tricia and Roland Stickel of Spring Hill, Tenn. and Chuck and Tracy Broadrick of Tullahoma, David Latimer and Yvonne Moon of Wartrace and The entire Anthony family of Tullahoma and Shelbyville.

Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m. at the Mount Vernon Church of the Nazarene 2875 Short Springs Rd in Tullahoma.

Special thanks to Nurse Sheila, Pastor Jeff and Bob and Nadine (and Maisy) from Hospice, friends and Pastor from our church Mike and Deanna Tyree, Linda and Jentry Damron, Jack and Edith Damron, and Sandra and Donnie Pilkinton.  From food, to phone calls to prayers, I can never thank you.
