The Tullahoma City Schools Board of Education recently approved a bid to add shatterproof laminate to windows and doors to eight buildings in the district.

In its October board meeting, Finance Director Hank Jordan presented to the board the item regarding adding the window laminate.

According to Jordan, the school district was awarded approximately $145,000 from the Public School Security grant earlier in the year.

“An advertisement was posted seeking a qualified firm to add shatterproof laminate to the glass of select doors and windows throughout the district,” Jordan said.

TCS received response from Eversafe Security Solutions, who has added shatterproof laminate to several schools in the district in 2020 and 2021. Jordan said Eversafe toured and made recommendations on the doors and windows in eight buildings within the district, with their proposal totaling to $126,113.

Jordan gave his recommendation that the school board approved with TCS moving forward with Eversafe’s bid to add shatterproof laminate to select windows and doors at eight buildings throughout the district, with the expense being covered by the Public School Security Grant.

When opened to discussion, both school members Pat Welsh and Andy Whitt said they were proud that the school district was ahead of getting the laminate done for the buildings.

With no further discussion, the board unanimously approved of the bid from Eversafe to add the shatterproof laminate.
