Tullahoma bowling season begins with win

The Tullahoma High School Bowling team had their first match on Sep. 28 against Franklin County and won 21-6.

The team’s competitions consist of two American 10-pin games and two Baker games. They are based on a 27-point scoring system. 8 points per American 10-pin game, 6 individual points and 2 team bonus points for total pin fall. 3 team points per Baker Game, with 2 bonus points for total pin fall of the 2 Baker games, and 3 bonus points for overall total pin fall.

In the first American 10-pin game, the order for Tullahoma was: Chase Dodson, Aidan Floyd, Bryson McKelvie, Jordyn Pilkington, Landyn Rogers and Britton Perry. Pilkington had the high score of any bowler in the two 10-pin games with 234. Dodson scored 219, Floyd knocked down 201 pins, McKelvie scored 189, Rogers had 113 and Perry scored 171. The Wildcats won five of the possible six individual points and took the two bonus points for total pinfall taking the 7-1 lead early. Game two’s lineup was; Eli Phillips, Floyd, McKelvie, Pilkington, Dodson and Perry. Pilkington had the highest score in game two with 214. Phillips knocked down 160, Floyd scored 192, McKelvie tallied 199, Dodson had 147 and Perry knocked down 159. Tullahoma won four of the six individual points and took the two pinfall bonus points again, giving them a 13-3 lead.

The first Baker game order on the score sheet was Dodson, Perry, Floyd, McKelvie and Pilkington. Their score was 120 pins which was three pins less than the Rebels team who claimed the three points for the first Baker game. The order for the second Baker game for Tullahoma was Dodson, Rogers, Floyd, McKelvie and Pilkington. They scored 216 pins to easily beat the Franklin County team’s score of 120. They added the three points for that Baker game and then added the two pinfall bonus points for total pinfall in the Baker games. That brought the score total to 21-6. The Wildcats knocked down a total of 2,534 pins during the match.
