Lady Wildcats fall in heartbreaker

The Tullahoma Middle School Lady Wildcats soccer team hosted Franklin County for their Conference Semi-final match and lost 2-1.
The match was scoreless at the half, both teams had shots but the goalkeepers were able to keep the ball from finding the net. Tullahoma keeper Arianny Castaneda made multiple great plays including one where she came out of goal and knocked the ball away from the Rebelettes player. She then was able to grab the ball before anyone else got to it, ending that scoring chance for Franklin County. During the fifth minute of the second half the Rebelettes scored the first goal of the match on a corner kick. The girl who took the corner hit a banana kick, the ball curved in the air to score. The ball passed just inches over Castaneda’s hands. With about 12:10 left in the battle, Addison Vincent took a direct kick roughly 36 feet out from goal and scored. A minute later Tullahoma was whistled for committing a foul in the box, awarding Franklin County with a penalty kick. The PK was knocked into the net giving the Rebelettes a 2-1 lead with 11 minutes left. The Lady ‘Cats continued to battle and found scoring opportunities. They were getting shots off up until the final buzzer, just could not find the net again.
The second seeded Lady Wildcats upset has them playing in the third-place game Saturday. The results of the game were unavailable at the time of print.
