Estill police bust man on drug and weapons charges

Estill Springs Police responded to a call of a suspicious man this past week and found out why he was being suspicious.

According to the police report, on September 14 officers were dispatched to an address on Tullahoma Highway about a suspicious vehicle sitting in front of a residence.

“While talking to the driver (Dakota Fuller) at the hood of the officer’s patrol unit, officers began to observe unusual body language coming from the subject,” police reported. “(He) was unable to stand still and kept placing his hands in his pockets after being told to keep them away for officer safety and the public safety. Officers asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle and the subject stated that there wasn’t and verbal consent was given to search his vehicle.”

It was at that point police reportedly found plenty that was illegal inside his vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle the following was recovered:

1-AR-15 rifle

1-9mm Handgun

1- CO2 BB handgun

120- 5.56 Ammunition

140- .223 Ammunition (Including 1 armor piercing round)

139- 9mm Ammunition

25- .22 Magnum Ammunition

8- 6.5 Creedmoore Ammunition

1- Mason jar of unknown green liquid (strong alcohol beverage smell emitting from it)

.8g of Methamphetamine was located under the patrol cars bumper laying on the road. That is also when officers noticed that there was drug paraphernalia thrown into the ditch on the side of the road.

Tennessee firearm laws for unlawful carry and possession were updated back in 2021 stating the following:

39-17-1307. Unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon.

* Has been convicted of the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant in this or any other, state two (2) or more times within the prior ten (10) years or one (1) time within the prior five (5) years.

The driver has had 3 previous DUI within the last 5 years.

The driver was placed under arrest and was charged with the following:

Fabricating/ tampering with evidence

Felony Possession of Methamphetamines

Open Container

Unlawful Carry and Possession of a Weapon

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
