The Motlow Bucks, ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA poll, solidified their hold on first place in the TCCAA conference with a 5-0 win over visiting Southwest Tennessee on Sunday at their home pitch in Moore County. It was the eighth consecutive victory for the Bucks.

Motlow (4-0, 8-1-1) beat the Saluqis after traveling to Columbia and beating the Columbia State Chargers 1-0 on Thursday. The top two teams in the TCCAA, the Bucks and the Chargers, will square off again this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Motlow. Admission is $6.

Motlow 5 Southwest Tennessee 0

As has been the case for multiple contests this season, Winchester freshman Libby Vincent got the Bucks on the scoreboard early, scoring a goal at 10:16 on an assist from Smyrna classmate Camden Prosser.

With only eight seconds remaining in the first half, Murfreesboro sophomore Alysa Benton successfully converted a penalty kick, and the Bucks went into intermission leading 2-0.

Sophomore transfers Alba Embid and Kaite Jones worked together to score the next two goals at 54:13 and 64:16, with Jones scoring both on Embid’s assists. Prosser completed the scoring at 71:09 on an assist from Florida sophomore Alexis McMath.

All three goalkeepers played for Motlow, with Germany freshman Alina Arneth logging one save in the first 45 minutes. Manchester sophomore Lucy Riddle notched a pair of saves during the next 30 minutes, and Cookeville sophomore Leigha Resendiz had one save in the final 15 minutes.

Motlow took 14 shots, while the Saluqis managed only four. The Bucks led in corner kicks 4-0.

Motlow 1 Columbia State 0

Embid scored the game’s only goal on an assist from Vincent as the Bucks beat TCCAA rival Columbia State 1-0 Thursday in Columbia.

Embid’s goal came 68 minutes into the contest. Outside that scoring play, the two teams battled it out on the pitch, with Motlow getting off a dozen shots and the Chargers 11.

Each team had four saves, with Arneth logging 87 minutes and Resendiz three minutes at goalkeeper for Motlow. Prosser led the Bucks with four shots, including three on goal.

The Bucks have yet to lose since their opening game against Iowa Western, the No. 1 team in the country. As a team, Motlow is 12^th in the nation with 168 shots and tied for 19th with 22 assists.
